Your Company can participate in this year’s
Podiatry Online Step Into Your Future
Practice Management Workshops

Imprint your company’s name and products on the next generation of young podiatrists at this impressionable point in their careers

Scenes from last year’s workshops

This year Podiatry Online and Future Medical Solutions will, once again, be sponsoring a series of workshops at podiatry colleges around the country. The practicing podiatrist/editors of Podiatry Online will host the "Step into the Future Podiatry Practice Workshop", a presentation on making the transition from student/resident to practicing podiatrist.

SOME BACKGROUND

There has always been a huge vacuum in practice management teaching at medical schools, that begins to become perceived as critical when students reach the ends of their academic careers. That is why the students, and more so, the residents, gave us such an enthusiastic reception at the 5 programs that we’ve done so far. The general practice management courses at the podiatry colleges teach general principles, where we teach specifics gained from a combined 36 years of practice experience. Podiatry students have no benefit of hindsight…they only look ahead and wonder how they are ever going to learn to run a successful practice. What we delivered at the colleges that we’ve done so far was appreciated as a nuts and bolts positive workshop on essential practice marketing and management skills. We continued this in a much more granular format when we did the first residents program at the Ohio college last year.

We’re most excited about this 2nd year of College and Residents Programs that we’re doing again this year. The Deans at the colleges have told us that they’re going to make our program a regular part of the colleges’ practice management curriculums this year. Last year’s programs strongly imprinted the name of our sponsors in the minds of these young doctors and influential faculty members, and received rave reviews ( see thank you letters below). We’d like to do the same for your company this year.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We would like to introduce you to an unprecedented opportunity to interact with the next generation of podiatrists, approximately 500 graduating students, 600+ podiatric residents, and key influencers such as the clinical faculty of the colleges, to deliver the message about the superiority of your products to them.

I have put together some more specific information for you in this letter about the programs:

THE PROGRAM

The "Step into the Future Podiatry Practice Workshops" consists on delivering a PowerPoint lecture on making the transition from student/resident to practicing podiatrist. We will be providing a lavish luncheon for all attendees, as well as a Mini-Trade Show that we invite you to participate in. All students and residents will also receive our Practice Management Manual, filled with our collective 36 years of experience on practice building and practice management. This is a 100+ page Practice Management Manual, which contains a host of valuable resources which we only wish we had received when we were students. We have assembled the best articles on organizing a new practice and marketing that practice. There is a complete selection of the best forms for streamlining the work flow in a practice, that were contributed by podiatrists all over the country. There will also be a section of the manual devoted to product presentations for your company….materials must be submitted no later than 2 weeks prior to each workshop. Participating vendors will be recognized during the lectures and by Podiatry Online at no additional cost. Finally, we are giving the attendees a valuable Employment Contract that cost thousands of dollars to produce, to help them achieve a fair deal with their first employers.

THE MINI-TRADE SHOW

The most exciting part of the program, which we will be directing these young doctor’s attention to, is the Mini-Trade Show. Vendors that sell products that podiatrists use are very anxious to meet the next generation of young podiatrists. This will be a small version of the exhibition hall that we all encounter at clinical conferences, where we will invite 5-10 companies to set up tabletop displays to teach the attendees about the uses of their products. These students, all at a very impressionable stage in their careers, will get "imprinted" on the first companies that show an interest in them, and will remember these companies and their products when they enter private practice. This is valuable chance for vendors like you to do grass roots marketing and make a strong impression on the next generation of podiatrists.

The DATES for the workshop series are:

bullet February 1, 2007 Thursday

San Francisco, California School of Podiatric Medicine

bullet March 17, 2007 Saturday

DOLLARS AND SENSE

The cost of participation is $500 for each workshop and we welcome you or your local representative to set up a tabletop display and interact with all in attendance. We will be doing one workshop for the students and one for the residents at each college, for a total of $1000 at each location. Discounts will be given for participation in multiple locations.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a lasting impression on future Podiatrists, the future of our business.

Here are some of the thank you letters that we received after last year’s programs, to give you an idea of how much they all appreciated the Step Into Your Future Practice Management Workshops:

I want to personally thank Dr.'s Alan Sherman and Michael Shore for taking the time and effort to coordinate a practice management seminar for NYCPM graduates this past week. If more of the practice community were as concerned about the students as you guy's, we would be much better off. The graduates were treated royally and not only provided some key practice management tips from the perspective of a full time practicing DPM, but arranged for a wonderful lunch and exhibit show as well. To top off the day, each graduate was given a flatpack and other valuable items. The true value of this event was a clear message to these wonderful graduates and now current colleagues that the profession does care about them and is willing to welcome them in. The class of 2002 is bright and energetic and represents the future of our profession. Thank you Alan and Mike for what you did.

Dear Drs. Sherman and Shore,

On behalf of our administration, I would like to thank you and Dr. Shore for meeting with our residents, following your scheduled presentation to our senior students last week. Both students and residents received valuable information from your Podiatry Online program.

We thank you for your efforts, especially on such short notice for the residents' presentation, and commend you for promoting podiatric medical education.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sherman, Dr. Shore, Tim and Nick,

Thank you for a wonderful visit last week and including us in your tour of schools. We appreciate your time and energy in coordinating and presenting the "Step into your Future" seminar. In talking with our students who attended the program, they appreciated the very practical information on setting up a practice, and they particularly loved the doctor's bags.
You were all a pleasure to work with and I look forward to this seminar being an annual event, as well as teaming up with you again on other initiatives. Thank you again for all of your efforts!

Sincerely,
Kelly W. Lie

Dear Alan and Michael,

Thanx for all you are doing on behalf of our graduates and seniors.

Chet Evans, DPM
Dean, Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine

Dear Dr. Shore and Sherman,

I wanted to thank you on behalf of my graduating class at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine for the incredible seminar that you sponsored on May 20 of this year. There were so many questions that we had as a class about life after graduation that were answered by the seminar. Drs. Shore and Sherman did an outstanding job at communicating what we would encounter as we continue our podiatric career. And we cannot thank you enough for the medical bags, flat packs and supplies. They will be utilized the rest of our careers and we appreciate your generosity and willingness to sponsor such an important event. We have already told our dean that this should be a scheduled event for every graduating class!

Thank you again and I look forward to working with Moore Medical in the future.

Dana Giacalone, DPM
President, TUSPM Class of 2002

The problem is we get no experience or education on business in school. Dr. Sherman and yourself are doing a great service with your lecture series, in fact I told Dr. Hetherington that it was the most informative lecture for me personally in the past two years of residency. That along with the website are an incredible service to the profession and ultimately to the patients and I'd like to be a part of it. Keep up the great work. I hope to speak with you soon!

Sincerely,
Jason D. Crilley, D.P.M.
Student, Ohio college of Podiatric Medicine

As you can see from these letters, which were just a small part of the rave reviews that we received, the COLLEGE PROGRAMS were warmly and enthusiastically received at the colleges and they are all anticipating next year’s program. Many of the students told us that they learned more about building and running a successful podiatry practice in this program than in their entire practice management curriculum.

As an exhibitor, you will receive high visibility at each of the programs. You will have a booth at the Mini-Trade Show. You will also have prominent signage identifying you as the company that made the program possible, in the lecture room, and in the Mini-Trade Show room. You will also have prominent placement in the practice management manual that each student gets, and on the slides that are displayed. The students will be carrying around this manual for years to come. We make it very clear to the appreciative students and faculty of the colleges, who made each of these programs possible.
